What is Day of Champions? The MotoGP Charity Spectacular.
2023
2024 Day of Champions raised an exceptional £246,000, with an extra £25,000 over the rest of the weekend.
What is the MotoGP Day of Champions?
Held annually on Thursday during the British MotoGP weekend, Day of Champions is a charity fundraiser established in 1989 at the British MotoGP. Andrea and Barrie Coleman created it alongside former MotoGP rider Randy Mamola to support Two Wheels for Life, Ms Coleman's charity organisation.
Ticket purchases support the cause while offering attendees access to the paddock, pitlane, and opportunities to meet riders. The event includes charity raffles and an afternoon auction featuring riders and memorabilia.
Two Wheels for Life ensures healthcare workers across Africa have transportation - primarily motorcycles - to reach remote communities. Their initiatives have significantly reduced disease transmission, maternal mortality, and infant mortality rates throughout African nations.
Riders and team members enthusiastically participate voluntarily. Every single one of them makes the effort to attend and participate in auctions, despite no requirement to do so.
What Happens on Day of Champions?
Between 11am and 3pm, ticket-holders explore the paddock freely without premium pricing or weekend restrictions. With no track activity, riders casually meet fans for autographs and photographs.
The 2024 event featured the 75th Anniversary retro liveries that stormed round Silverstone on Sunday, displayed in the pitlane. From 2pm–3pm, paddock pass holders accessed the pitlane and Hamilton Straight.
The auction at 3:30pm featured riders displaying and auctioning memorabilia including racewear, helmets, signed wheels, and paddock passes. Items sold for hundreds to thousands of pounds. The auction generated approximately £80,000 in revenue.
Tickets are available through the Silverstone website alongside MotoGP weekend passes. Donations supporting Two Wheels for Life are accepted on their website.
